Alexander Laukenmann, our new MD

He's been living in Hamburg for just six months now, and the city has already won him over: Alexander Laukenmann became Managing Director of Hamburg Airport in May, joining Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO, at the helm. The 42-year-old spent the previous 15 years in various leadership roles at Fraport AG, finishing his time there as Head of Corporate Development. His primary areas of responsibility at Hamburg Airport are Real Estate Management and Center Management. In June, the business administration graduate's family joined him in Hamburg, so that they have now been able to explore the city between the Alster and the Elbe together.

Michael Otremba: Managing Director of Hamburg Tourism

Northward bound! At the start of May, Michael Otremba, the new head of Hamburg Tourism (HHT), came here from Munich Airport, where he had served as Head of Marketing. He is excited about the new challenges of a city undergoing strong tourism development. Current growth is more than double the 3% needed to reach 13 million overnight stays this year, so that's one barrier that is sure to fall. The 45-year-old told us how he is settling into the city and if he has already found his own Hamburg Highlights.

A genuine globetrotter, Gerd Pontius is always happy to land at Hamburg Airport. The founder and CEO of Prologis AG has been advising airlines since 1993, with a customer base of more than 50 airlines in around 30 different countries. Together with his team, he supports such airlines as Emirates, Ryanair and Virgin Australia in the development and implementation of strategic concepts, processes and systems.
